The Richest Ecosystem on Earth.-

The Amazon, one of the wonders of our planet, contains an abundance of unique flora and fauna. The individuals of more than 25000 Amazonian plant species produce 20% of the oxygen in the earth's atmosphere.

In addition, 66% of all the world's fresh water is found here.

It is a rainforest of unique beauty. It contains an incredible diversity of animal and plant species, without comparison elsewhere in the world.

CUYABENO RESERVE 4 DAYS TOUR ITINERARY

TOUR :  4 DAYS ‑ 3 NIGHTS       Friday  to  Monday

DAY 1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente - Guacamayo Ecolodge. Flight (20 minutes) or bus ride (one day before- eight hour ride) from Quito to Lago Agrio. We drive from Lago Agrio to El Puente.

Afternoon: Canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to Guacamayo Ecolodge. Night: dinner and exiting night walk

DAY 2.- Morning: three hour hike in the primary forest to learn about flora and fauna, including lessons in the use of plants for survival. Afternoon: Relaxing time, bird watching at Caimancocha and Patococha Lake and finally watching the sunset at Laguna Grande, where we can go for some refreshing swimming and Caiman (alligator) searching.

DAY 3.-Mornig: An one and a half hours boat ride down the river to a Siona indigenous community. We will interact with the people and learn about their traditions and customs by making some local food. After that we visit a shaman to learn about his secrets and ancestral knowledge of shamanism. At night we enjoy watching hundreds of different insects which are attracted by special lamps connected to a solar system

DAY 4.- Camp site - El Puente - Lago Agrio - Quito. Early morning: Bird watching from a 25 meters high tower. After breakfast: journey up the Cuyabeno River to El Puente. We drive back to Lagos Agrio (arrival to Lago Agrio in the afternoon). Flight or bus ride back to Quito



TOUR :  5 DAYS –4  NIGHTS

DAY 4.- Morning: paddling in traditional dugout canoe through small canals to enjoy the peaceful and quiet surroundings while looking for wild life around.

Afternoon: watching sunset at Laguna Grande

DAY 5.-Guacamayo Ecolodge - El Puente - Lago Agrio - Quito. Early morning: Bird watching from a 25 meters high tower. After breakfast: journey up the Cuyabeno River to El Puente. We drive back to Lago Agrio (arrival to Lago Agrio in the afternoon). Flight or bus ride back to Quito.

TOUR :  6 DAYS –5  NIGHTS   

DAY 1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente - Guacamayo Ecolodge. Flight (20 minutes) or bus ride (one day before- eight hour ride) to Lago Agrio. We drive from Lago Agrio to El Puente. We make a two hours canoe trip downstream the Cuyabeno River to the Guacamayo Ecolodge. Afternoon: Canoe ride around the lake to observe birds and other wildlife, like pink river dolphins, monkies,etc.

DAY 2.- Morning: Three hours hike in the primary forest to watch its amazing diversity, especially birds. Lunch at the lodge. Later on we take the canoe dowstrem the Cuyabeno River (two hours) to our campsite, where we will sleep in tents next to a salt-lick.

DAY 3.-Early morning bird watching in the area (to observe parrots etc). Breakfast and three more hours by canoe downstream the Cuyabeno and Aguarico River (the 2nd river in Ecuador). We have lunch at a Cofan indigenous community. Later on we make a hike to search for a nesting harpy eagle. The harpy eagle is one of the strongest eagles in the world. Dinner at campsite.

Day 4.- Morning: After breakfast we start the way back to the ecolodge with several stops on the way, depending of what we see during the boat ride. Lunch after our arrival at the ecolodge. Afternoon bird observation from a 25 meters high tower. Dinner.

Day 5.-Morning: Breakfast and three hours paddling in a traditional canoe while searching for birds that are found near the water and ground. Lunch at the lodge, afternoon at the lake and a short night walk to look for night birds like owls.

Day 6.- Guacamayo Ecolodge - El Puente - Lago Agrio - Quito. We enjoy the early morning from top of the bird watching tower. Breakfast and journey back to the airport or bus station in Lago Agrio for flight or bus ride back to Quito
